NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND
REMEMBRANCE LUNCHEON

This luncheon, a celebration of the National Day of Service and Remembrance established by the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, is a must for nonprofit leaders of all positions -- whether a volunteer, board member, program staff, or executive -- allowing you time for connecting with your peers, thoughtful dialogue and celebration. No matter your role or responsibility in your organization, you will return to your work reinvigorated and armed with new knowledge to respond to these uncharted times.

In place of the daylong conference for grantmakers and grantseekers, the Donors Forum of Wisconsin invites the nonprofit community to join grantmakers for a special luncheon showcasing how nonprofits and foundations can work together to address cricital needs and build a sustainable future for Wisconsin during these tough economic times.

Fashioning a Path to a More Sustainable Future

Diana Aviv, Independent Sector President & CEO
Each September 11 reminds us that many of the events that transform our lives are beyond our control. Yet as we stand in the middle of another stunning development that few of us could have imagined—the dramatic disruption of our economy—we must also remain committed to our vision for a better world. Join Diana Aviv, president and CEO of Independent Sector, as she examines how nonprofits and foundations can maximize the many opportunities still available to us. Partnerships must be central to this effort: Diana will explore how nonprofits and foundations can work with each other, the business sector, and with government to build a dynamic, compassionate, and sustainable future for all.

Diana Aviv is the president and CEO of Independent Sector, the national leadership forum for America’s nonprofits, foundations, and corporate giving programs. By representing tens of thousands of organizations across the country, Independent Sector’s mission is to advance the common good by leading, strengthening, and mobilizing the charitable community. Diana is a leading speaker on emerging trends within the sector, the financial state of the nonprofit community, public policies affecting charities and foundations, the role of civil society in democracy, and civic engagement.

Independent Sector is the leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs committed to advancing the common good in America and around the world. Our nonpartisan coalition of approximately 600 organizations leads, strengthens, and mobilizes the charitable community in order to fulfill our vision of a just and inclusive society and a healthy democracy of active citizens, effective institutions, and vibrant communities.

We ask all participants to support the learning environment by refraining from soliciting funds or business at Donors Forum of Wisconsin events. The Donors Forum of Wisconsin seeks to create a community of shared inquiry characterized by mutual respect and trust.
